Dance in the field of tension between the expression of a certain culture and free self-expression
In this semester I will introduce you to the Tarantella as a collective term for different Italian folk dances like Tammuriata in Campania or Pizzica in the Salento region. We will learn the steps but also improvise with each other to get to know each other this way and to communicate with each other through the dance. And we will work on Roma dances and Yiddish dances. These dances are circle and round dances and offer wonderful opportunities to become part of a group through dance.
You will receive a certificate of attendance through regular participation and the instruction of a simple dance for warming up. As an exam you will have the opportunity to study a selected dance in more detail, both theoretically and practically, and to teach the other students the dance. It will also be possible to write a paper about a particular dance or dance form or a dancer. |
