You will find the placement tests at different levels. If you are not sure of your level, start at A1. If you don't know any German, just register for the A1 level.
In this class, you will learn simple expressions and sentences. We speak basic German in a variety of daily life situations. In class, we speak a lot of German, but sometimes we switch to English (or Spanish or French) for explanations.
The topics and situations are easy and familiar: hello and good bye, to introduce oneself and others, how are you, shopping, food, meals, time, numbers, family, hobbies, living, orientation in town, clothes, weather, health, etc.
The grammar is elementary (for examples see above in the German version): verbs in present tense, separable verbs, articles (definite, indefinite, zero articles), plural forms, possessive articles, possessive pronouns, negation, adjectives, modal verbs, imperatives, accusative, local prepositions, prepositions with dative, prepositions with accusative, perfect (introduction), preterite of having and being, sentence questions (yes-no questions), W-questions, question particles, conjunctions, dative.
Our class will begin at 5 p.m. and end shortly after 8 p.m.
