Theoretical perspectives on commons
The seminar introduces students to theories of commons as a community-based form of social and economic cooperation. Drawing on key readings in the field, we explore different theoretical perspectives on the generation of commons through practices of producing, sharing and taking responsibility for economic, social and cultural resources. We analyse concrete case studies of collective action and the challenges encountered in the context of rural and urban commons, cultural commons, digital commons, knowledge commons etc. We also look into the question of what different types of commons exist in Berlin. |
