Theory and Practice of Video Activism and Citizen Journalism and the Struggle for Communication Rights

In this seminar we will work our way (further) into the theory and practice of Video Activism and Citizen Journalism. These are just two powerful methods of citizen groups and social movements
in the struggle for self-representation and of giving a „voice to the voice-less”. We will go on to talk about the struggle for Communication Rights with examples from different countries around the
world. At the 22d and 23d of June we will hold a Conference on the Struggle for Communication Rights with examples from Turkey, Germany and possibly also Morocco and Brazil.

You can also test some of the methods of Video Activism and Citizen Journalism especially around the Conference on Communication Rights. These practices are also being used in e.g.
Community Building and other forms of Social Work. You will also be able to use the Video Lab of the University for this.
