What motivated you to start something of your own? What appeals to you about self-employment?

Starting my own business and self-employment offer many opportunities for creativity and involve taking on significant responsibility. From creative possibilities, I draw strength and perseverance. High responsibility motivates me to work sustainably and constructively for my surroundings and myself. In my previous employment, I often felt constrained and restricted in my work.

Which courses/seminars did you take to prepare for the startup?

During my studies, I attended various courses and workshops offered by the Career Service at ASH, as well as an elective module on business startups for one semester.

What are you currently working on? What are your next steps?

I am currently developing functional and efficient work processes. Since I am doing many tasks for the first time myself, I tend to be slower and more prone to mistakes in my activities. In addition to internal organizational tasks for the practice, I still have to take care of various contracts, and my second practice room is awaiting renovation.

Where do you see the biggest challenges for yourself and your project?

Ending a workweek with fewer outstanding tasks than at the beginning of the week. It feels like for every task I complete, 1.5 new tasks arise, so while the nature of my task load changes, it doesn’t actually get smaller.

What does self-care mean to you, and how do you integrate it into your daily routine?

Setting boundaries, saying no, having kind inner dialogues, and paying attention to my own needs, especially basic needs, along with accepting that I don't always succeed at this.

What advice would you give to ASH students for starting a business or implementing a project?

Critically assess the nature of each task ahead of you. Are they essential constraints, conventions, or ego-driven matters? Tasks related to essential constraints should be prioritized. For example, which qualifications are absolutely necessary for starting the business, or how do I organize enough money to cover non-profitable months?
