- Commissioner for Integration
Abstract:
Based on guided qualitative interviews with local and social actors, migrants and other demographic groups, the research project will finish with an action plan for the development of socio-spatial democracy.
The focus is on both opportunities for democratic participation at the level of civil society and local politics as well as experiences of discrimination and everyday manifestations of racism.
The analysis of the social structure of the district is based on the analysis of data sources on the demography and social situation of the population according to social areas. In addition to numerous data from social reporting and social urban development, the analysis also takes into account the results from the district's directory for the recording of anti-Semitic, right-wing extremist and racist incidents. The aim is to identify local social milieus as well as relevant social actors. Of particular interest are the identification and expansion of "islands" with the potential for development and the investigation of conditions for success on a structural, spatial, cultural and participatory level. The developed action plan will serve as a basis for discussions on the further development of democracy in the district.
