Project duration: 15/08/2014 - 14/08/2015
Principal investigator: Prof. Dr. Ingrid Kollak (ASH Berlin)
Project staff: Joachim Kuck, MBA, M.Sc., MPH; Stefan Meyer, M.A.
Abstract:
In the long-standing debate on nursing councils, proponents and opponents agree on key problems but disagree on a council’s potentials to address these problems. The study deepens the debate on opportunities and limitations of nursing councils and investigates the level of acceptance among nursing professionals.
For this purpose, the study uses qualitative and quantitative methods of empirical social research.
The council study covers four major components:
- research on the existing councils/chambers in Germany and their different structures and characteristics
- information regarding the ongoing study in flyers, articles and events
- interviews with stakeholders and activists in the professional field, in politics, administration and other relevant areas, as well as
- face-to-face survey among nurses who’ve completed three years’ qualification in different care settings
