Abstract:
GLESA is analysing discrimination against older LGBT people, as well as the opportunities and risks of LGBT housing projects and community-based care systems. The research project aims to develop guidelines for addressing discrimination, including heterosexism and transphobia, in the care of older gay and lesbian people.  

The analysis was based on interviews and focus groups with experts in the fields and residents, as well as observation in the "Lebensort Vielfalt," a housing and care project that opened in 2012 in Berlin-Charlottenburg, organised by the gay and lesbian community and dedicated to the support and care of older gays and lesbians. 

GLESA is trying to show the consequences of discrimination against LGBT people in old age. The qualitative research aims to outline new models and guidelines for community care-based services both within and outside of the LGBT community.
