Abstract:
Since 2019, Germany has recognized the third gender status 'diverse.' This project investigates how educational institutions can appropriately respond to this development. What are the experiences and needs of students who identify as trans*, inter*, non-binary, asexual, and other gender-diverse identities within the school environment? What does effective, diversity-aware pedagogy look like in practice, and how can it address intersectional barriers in education? How can teacher training programs prepare educators to approach gender with a reflective and inclusive mindset?

Funded by the BMBF's program for young researchers, this project applies a mixed-methods approach to explore the relationship between gender diversity, schooling, and equitable access to education.

In collaboration with ASH Berlin (2021-2023), the project emphasizes theoretical reflection on the challenges that shape professional teaching practices and the integration of these insights into empirical research and high school education practices.
