Abstract:
The Transfer_Hub is a temporary network-coordination office facilitating future-oriented and community-centered development of the university. The Transfer_Hub research team accompanies the change process of the ASH Berlin towards a knowledge transfer-oriented, educational campus in the district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf. As one project (of two) of Campus Transferale, the Transfer_Hub team works closely with it's aligned pilot projects "Zwischenräume" (interspaces/ spaces in-between) and "Community Spaces" as well as the Service Point for Participatory Research. Thus, it is ensured that what emerges from the Transfer_Hub is always created collaboratively with society, actors in the social space and residents of Hellersdorf - and that impulses from the social environment reach into the university. The pilot projects, which may grow in numbers until 2027, are direct links to the district, whose activities are studied by the Transfer_Hub research team.
The university's strategic transfer goals are the starting point of the Transfer_Hub activities. Experiments will be carried out on how ASH Berlin could become a 'university of the future', both from a spatial- and content-based orientation: a university in which local residents, lecturers, students and university staff work on solutions together. Creating ideas that emerge from and enrich the district, as well as discourses that can reach beyond the ASH Berlin, with national and international impact.
In this way, Marzahn-Hellersdorf is strengthened as a center of knowledge, in which the university is being enabled and empowered while themselves engaging in a change process marked by continous learning. 'University of the future' thereby also means widening the perspective for what can emerge beyond the immediate local district of Hellersdorf. The project is strengthening the value, visibility and tangibility of knowledge transfer experiences, so that future potential for co-creation can be activated and used.
