University day on the topic of "Authoritarian tendencies - effects on universities and society"

Intersectional Practice and Transformation (InPuT)

Current socio-political discourse repeatedly places universities at the center of social and political disputes. Authoritarian tendencies are increasingly threatening academic freedom and academic freedom: university members are publicly attacked and defamed for their work and opinions expressed, and research fields such as gender studies, postcolonial approaches and climate research are under attack. Demands for interference in academic freedom and aggressive political rhetoric are exacerbating these developments.

At the University Day, we want to discuss, among other things, how these developments affect the structures and content-related debates at universities, what specific consequences this has for our university and what influence discriminatory policies have on diversity, inclusion and anti-discrimination structures and solidarity-based action at universities. And above all, what role does each and every one of us play and what options for action do we have to counter these trends?

Introductory inputs, workshops, dialog and discussion spaces as well as cultural contributions such as poetry, performance and music are planned.

The full program will be published here soon.
