Social Innovation Education as a teaching-learning approach with Dr. Michael Wihlenda

Online

ASHEXIST

Dear ASH teachers, dear colleagues,

on Monday, 18.09.23, from 13:00-16:15 (online) the next Social Entrepreneurship Education Workshop will take place within ASHEXIST on the topic:"Social Innovation Education - A teaching-learning approach to self and world effectiveness" .

Social Innovation Education (SIE) is still a very young field of practice and research. In contrast to existing approaches, which also promote social transformation processes, this approach takes a special look at learning in communities designed to last and their potential for social impact.

The workshop is aimed at teachers with a special interest in problem- and project-based as well as participatory teaching and is divided into two parts:

In the theoretical part , the approach of SIE as well as the similarities and differences to existing approaches will be presented and illustrated using the example of the 'World Citizen School Model', highlighting the importance of "research-based learning" as well as empowerment in the sense of self-responsible co-determination of students for their own learning processes and their social relevance.

In the second practical part, the participants get to know a systemic, value-based and participative teaching-learning method. This serves, among other things, the development of (long-term) learning communities such as initiatives, associations, social start-ups or own seminars or the organization of one's own work area or (third-party funded) projects.

Speaker: Dr. Michael Wihlenda (World Citizen Alliance e.V. )

Dr. Michael Wihlenda has created the World Citizen School Model, a holistic learning philosophy and learning system for learning teams and organizations at the Global Ethic Institute of the University of Tübingen. As a researcher, he has contributed in particular to the young field of Social Innovation Education. Value-based learning in communities of practice especially in the context of Global Citizenship Education, Social Innovation Education, Entrepreneurship Education and action-oriented Business Ethics Education is the focus of his teaching activities.

Participation in this workshop can be credited towards Module II of the Berlin Certificate in Higher Education Teaching of the BZHL.
