"de-fence europe" conference

A critical examination of European closed-border policies and their impact on human rights and human dignity

"de-fence europe" conference

Audimax

The first "de-fence europe" conference has invited four organizations (Wir packen's an e.V., Equal Rights Beyond Borders e.V., SOS Méditerranée, Balkan Bridge) to take a current look at their work and European closed-border policy. Representatives from the field will report on the current situation with regard to isolation policy, pushbacks and repression in Europe. Particular attention will be paid to the legal design of the foreclosure framework and its impact on organizations.

The aim of the conference is to bring people together and highlight the discrepancy between the current legal situation and the principles of human rights and human dignity. Through an interdisciplinary exchange, the aim is to identify ways in which European isolation policy can be designed in accordance with the law without neglecting the fundamental values of human rights.

The conference is part of the project module "Between challenges and opportunities: social work with refugees in European and international camps".

The conference will also be broadcast digitally.
