Study, Health Conference for practical instructors in the care sector at ASH Berlin

The two-day event will focus on the future of nursing training.

Today and tomorrow, the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences (ASH) Berlin is hosting a conference for nursing instructors from cooperating institutions. A total of 70 participants are taking part in the event, which is characterized by a varied and practical program. The conference will be led by Mirja Heidebring (course coordinator for the nursing degree course) and Prof. Dr. Johannes Gräske.

The central points of the conference program include topics such as the training plan in nursing studies and the design of simulation-based teaching that is oriented towards practice. Other focal points include diversity sensitivity in nursing care, patient safety and empowerment as well as the prevention of sexualized violence.

As part of the Bachelor's degree program in Nursing, ASH Berlin cooperates with a large number of renowned healthcare facilities in Berlin and Brandenburg. These cooperations enable students to undertake practical study assignments, which form an essential part of their training. Students conclude a training contract for university nursing training with a cooperating institution, which accompanies the practical part of the training.

Practical guidance in the cooperating healthcare facilities plays a key role in practical training. This task may only be performed by persons who have completed the relevant further training in vocational education and have acquired the "practical instructor" certificate. Through their work, practical instructors not only contribute to the quality of training, but also have a significant influence on the future quality of care and support in the facilities. They ensure the next generation of competent specialists and thus contribute to securing nursing care.

In view of the growing demands on nursing staff, which today go far beyond the provision of pure bedside care, the quality of training is becoming increasingly important. Nursing staff must be able to advise relatives and document care processes. Sound training is essential in order to meet these challenges. Responsible practical instructors make an important contribution here, not only by ensuring the quality of training, but also by helping to retain trainees in the long term.

The conference at ASH Berlin offers a valuable platform for the exchange and further training of practice supervisors. By focusing on current topics and challenges in the nursing sector, an important step is taken towards strengthening nursing training and promoting quality-oriented nursing care.
