"Civil Society Engagement in Israel/Palestine - Voices against the Lack of Perspective" is the title of a new internal lecture series organized by ASH Berlin from 5 November 2024 to 30 January 2025.
The lecturers are Asmaa Abusamra, Amira Mohammed, Ibrahim Abu Ahmed, Yariv Lapid, Tova Buksbaum and Wajih Tmaiza Fawzeya. They are Palestinians and Israelis who are actively committed to de-escalating the violence in the region. The lecture series offers a platform for voices that often remain in the shadows of the conflict and addresses solidarity, remembrance work and dialog between different social groups in times of violence and hopelessness.
With lectures, seminar contributions and open discussions at ASH Berlin, the aim is to create a forum that enables people to listen, learn and think together about how we can relate to the events and violent history and what options for action there are. The aim is to broaden perspectives, promote compassion and develop concrete approaches for peaceful coexistence.
The lecture series is aimed at all members and member groups of ASH Berlin. The lectures will be held in English. Questions and contributions from participants can be translated into German if required.
The speakers are also available to students and colleagues in seminars and workshops for an exchange of ideas.
All dates and topics of the lecture series as well as further information on the speakers can be found in our calendar of events and on the poster for the series "Civil Society Engagement in Israel/Palestine - Voices against the Lack of Perspective".
Dealing with terror and war in the Middle East at ASH Berlin
ASH Berlin is committed to anti-discrimination, respect and equal opportunities in its mission statement. We recognize that anti-Semitic and racist structures also exist at our university and represent a challenge. The aim is to actively address these structural challenges and create spaces in which critical debate and continuous improvement are possible. At ASH Berlin, as a university for social work and health, education and training, dealing with anti-Semitism and racism is firmly anchored in the curricula of the degree programs.
Our website "Dealing with terror and war in the Middle East at ASH Berlin" provides an overview of how ASH Berlin tackles the issues of anti-Semitism and racism. It contains information on our counseling services, ways to complain about discrimination as well as relevant events, workshops and research initiatives. You will also find statements and positions from the ASH university management and other stakeholders on how to deal with current developments in the Middle East.
